Clark Baseball Splits With Saints

Recapping today's action against Mount Hood Community College

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Game 1 - Clark College's baseball team faced off against Mt. Hood in a competitive matchup that saw the team struggle offensively and defensively. Despite a strong effort, Clark fell short, losing 7-4 to Mt. Hood.

Offensive Highlights:

The offense showed signs of life, collecting 10 hits, but was unable to capitalize in critical situations, leaving 12 runners stranded on base. Kobin Mullins had an excellent day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jase Pashales also contributed, driving in 2 runs from his 1-for-3 performance, including a sacrifice fly. Duncan Roush had a solid game, collecting 2 hits in 2 at-bats, while Trevin Long and Landon Criste each contributed a single RBI.

Although there were bright spots, Clark left several opportunities on the table. The team had key moments, such as a hit from Kobin Mullins that drove in the only run of the first inning and a sacrifice fly from Quentin Anguay that helped the team get on the board. However, they could not overcome the challenges posed by Mt. Hood's pitching staff.

Defensive Struggles:

Clark's defense had its issues, committing four errors in the game. Kobin Mullins was credited with two errors, while Quentin Anguay and Luke Woolcott also made mistakes that allowed Mt. Hood to capitalize. Despite these hiccups, Clark did manage to turn a double play, which prevented further damage during critical moments.

Pitching Breakdown:

The Clark pitching staff had a mixed outing. Luke Woolcott started strong, pitching 2 innings but gave up 4 hits and 4 runs (2 earned). He struggled with control at times, walking 2 batters and hitting 2 others. Morrie Solam came in as a reliever, delivering an impressive 4.1 innings of work, allowing just 2 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 2. He kept the team in the game, but the offense couldn't close the gap.

Trevin Long pitched 2 solid innings, allowing just 1 earned run and keeping Clark's chances alive. However, Alex Matter, Sam Dimaya, and Dawson Loudenburg had brief appearances that didn't contribute significantly to the outcome.
