Linn Benton Attack Too Much for Clark

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Clark College suffered a hard-fought 3–0 loss to Linn-Benton (22–25, 17–25, 13–25) at the Washington State School for the Deaf gym on Wednesday night.

The Penguins came out strong in the opening set, trading points early before the visiting Roadrunners pulled away late. Clark tallied nine kills in the first frame and held a .294 hitting percentage before Linn-Benton's attack found its rhythm.

Freshman Mia Hicks-Oliver paced the Penguins with six kills, while Kylie Miller and Abigail Heberle each added five. Miller also had a strong presence at the net with three blocks and a .308 hitting percentage. Setter Taylee Wilson dished out 18 assists and added three digs, while Emelynn Cecil anchored the defense with a match-high 14 digs.

Clark totaled 22 kills and five team blocks, with solid defensive work from Araia Lim and Gabriela Sideris, who combined for 10 digs.

Despite the loss, the Penguins showed flashes of their potential, particularly in the first set when they pushed Linn-Benton to the limit.

Clark (8–20, 4–11 NWAC South) now turns its attention to the final match of the season on Friday, looking to finish the fall on a high note and gain momemtum heading into the off season.
