Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Season Ends With Playoff Loss at Whatcom

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — November 5, 2025 — Clark College men's soccer showed grit and determination on Wednesday afternoon, but a potent Whatcom attack proved the difference as the Penguins dropped a 4–0 decision on the road.

Clark (9–5–3) withstood heavy early pressure from the Orcas thanks to strong defensive stands and timely goalkeeping from Patrick Murphy, who finished with four saves, including two in each half. The Penguins also received a standout defensive save from Julio Mondragon in the 2nd minute, keeping the match scoreless in the opening moments.

Despite being outshot 10–2 in the first half, Clark stayed composed, generating its best looks through Emin Music, who fired two of the Penguins' early attempts, including a shot on frame in the 39th minute. Clark also earned back-to-back corner kicks midway through the half, applying pressure before Whatcom struck in the 41st minute to take a 1–0 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Clark continued to push forward with contributions from Pablo Barbosa-Sanchez, whose shot in the 51st minute forced another save from the Whatcom keeper. Kaito Thammavong, Hulises Najera, and Tymathe Prince also created second-half chances as the Penguins worked to climb back into the match.

Whatcom, however, found momentum early in the second period, netting three goals in an eight-minute span to extend its lead. The Penguins continued to battle, generating four shots in the half and making multiple defensive stops to limit further damage.

On the back line, Clark saw strong minutes from Isaiah Bunda and Akeem Archer, who each went the full 90, while Evan Roscoe and Kaito Thammavong anchored a rotation that helped weather repeated Whatcom advances. Off the bench, Hulises Najera, Javaughn McRae, and Matt Browning provided energy that helped Clark create late opportunities, including Najera's 87th-minute shot on goal.

Clark finished the season 9-4-3 and will turn its attention to next season with a great returning core group of players.
