Clark’s Late Rally Falls Short in 2–1 Loss to Highline

ANCOUVER, Wash. — Despite a strong finish and an inspired second half, the Clark Penguins came up just short Saturday afternoon, falling 2–1 to No. 1- West ranked Highline at Kim Christensen Field.

Freshman Hazim Huskic gave Clark life in the 89th minute, slotting home his first goal of the season to cut the deficit in half. The Penguins kept the pressure on in the closing minutes, but Highline's defense held firm to preserve the narrow win.

Goalkeeper Patrick Murphy was stellar in net, turning aside three first-half shots to keep the match scoreless at the break. He faced 15 total attempts and finished with three saves.

Clark (5-1-3, 5-1-3 NWAC) created plenty of chances, matching Highline's 15 shots and earning four corner kicks. Travis O'Hara and Kaito Thammavong each challenged the Highline keeper early, while Pablo Barbosa-Sanche narrowly missed on a penalty attempt midway through the second half.

Highline (10-0-1, 7-0-1 NWAC) capitalized on a penalty kick in the 59th minute and added another goal nine minutes later — both from Harrison Emert — before Clark's late surge.

The Penguins will look to bounce back when they travel next week for a key conference matchup.
