VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark battled throughout the night but ultimately fell 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 12-25) to Lane on Thursday evening at the Washington State School for the Deaf. Despite the setback, the Penguins had several standout performances and key stretches of momentum that showcased continued growth on both sides of the ball.
Sophomore Abigail Heberle led the Clark attack with 9 kills, finding success early and providing a lift in each set. She also added a service ace for the Penguins. Mia Hicks-Oliver chipped in 5 kills a solo block, while Kylie Miller tallied 4 kills and was a force at the net defensively, finishing with 3 total blocks.
From the service line, Clark picked up 4 aces, including one each from Kim Saechao, Emelynn Cecil, Gabriela Reyes Sideris, and Taylee Wilson. Wilson also ran the offense with 17 assists on the night and added 4 digs and a block assist.
Defensively, Clark posted 28 digs, led by Cecil's team-high 10, followed by Saechao (3), Sideris (7), and Wilson (4). At the net, the Penguins totaled 4 blocks, including key stops that helped fuel early set-one momentum during a back-and-forth opening stretch that featured 14 ties.
Clark returns to action next week as the Penguins travel to Clackamas and Chemeketa in a road series before finishing their season at home the following week.
