Vancouver, Wash - In a high-octane NWAC league matchup, the Clark Penguins soared past the Clackamas Cougars, securing a decisive 91-74 victory at home. Behind standout performances from Theo McMillan and Terrell Moorer Jr., the Penguins notched their ninth win of the season while handing the Cougars their ninth loss.
First Half: Penguins Set the Tone
Clark came out firing on all cylinders, racking up 47 points in the first half. Their aggressive play on both ends of the court disrupted Clackamas' rhythm, with Clark shooting an impressive 54.1% from the field. McMillan led the charge with 16 first-half points, while Moorer Jr. added 15, showcasing their offensive versatility. Clark's defense also forced 6 turnovers, leading to 10 points.
Despite Clackamas' efforts to stay competitive, led by Colton Blackham's 9 points in the first half, they trailed 47-34 at the break.
Second Half: Penguins Maintain Control
The Penguins maintained their dominance in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 44-40. McMillan continued his stellar performance, finishing with a game-high 33 points on 15-of-23 shooting while grabbing 9 rebounds. Moorer Jr. added 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals, demonstrating his two-way impact.
Clark's bench provided a much-needed spark, contributing 8 points and key defensive stops. Meanwhile, Clackamas leaned heavily on Blackham, who tallied 19 points and 5 rebounds, but their 11 turnovers and inability to contain Clark's offensive weapons sealed their fate.
Next up Clark (9-5, 1-1 NWAC) will host Mt Hood (4-10, 0-2 NWAC) on Wednesday, January 15th. Tip off is set for 7:30pm in the O'Connell Sports Center.
