Clark Volleyball Dominates Lower Columbia in Straight Sets

Vancouver, WA - September 6, 2024

In a commanding performance on their home court, Clark College volleyball swept aside Lower Columbia College in three sets, demonstrating their dominance throughout the match. The final scores were 25-17, 25-22, 26-24.

From the first serve, Clark set the tone with precise attacks and solid defense, leaving their opponents struggling to find their rhythm. Lower Columbia fought hard, but Clark's cohesive teamwork and strategic plays proved too much to handle.

Ruby Ochoa led the offensive charge for Clark, delivering a game-high 11 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .281. She was supported by Olivia Brown and Kylie Miller, who contributed 9 and 7 kills respectively. Josie Becker orchestrated the offense with 21 assists, distributing the ball effectively to keep Lower Columbia's defense off balance.

Defensively, Clark was equally formidable, with Kylie Miller and Emelynn Cecil each recording blocks to stifle Lower Columbia's attacking efforts. Libero, Ariana Andalon-Ordaz, anchored the back line with 15 digs, showcasing her exceptional defensive skills.

Lower Columbia struggled to find consistency throughout the match, committing crucial errors at pivotal moments. Samantha Farland and Kenny Collins led their team with 6 kills each, but their efforts were not enough to overcome Clark's relentless pressure.

The match saw moments of intensity with several lead changes and tight scorelines, particularly in the third set where Clark came from behind to narrowly edged out Lower Columbia 26-24 to seal the sweep.

With this victory, Clark improves their season record to 2-4, showing promising early-season form. They look ahead to their next match ups with confidence, aiming to build upon this strong performance. Meanwhile, Lower Columbia, now 2-6 for the season, will regroup and strategize for their upcoming challenges.
