Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball wins two at home vs Grays Harbor

VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark Penguins soared to victory in an impressive display of teamwork and skill against the Grays Harbor Chokers. From the crack of the bat to the final out, it was evident that Clark was in control.

The game started with both teams exchanging tense innings, with solid defensive plays and strategic pitching. But it was in the bottom of the second when Clark broke the stalemate, as Cameron Kato's single drove in two runs, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Despite a homer from Grays Harbor's J. Herwick in the fifth inning, Clark maintained their lead, with standout performances from Josh Schleichardt, who not only contributed with his bat but also showcased his defensive prowess. His solo homer in the seventh inning further solidified Clark's dominance.

In the end, it was Clark's consistency and execution that sealed the victory. With strong pitching from Brock Roundy and Eddie Dwyer, coupled with key offensive plays, they secured a decisive 6-1 win in the first game of the double-header at Kindsfather Field.

Game two was a tightly contested match between the chokers and the penguins, it was Clark who emerged victorious with a 5-0 shutout. The game showcased stellar pitching performances and some key offensive plays that ultimately tipped the scales in Clark's favor.

Clark wasted no time making their mark on the scoreboard, exploding for five runs in the third inning. Evan McGuire's two-run homer highlighted the inning, while Kaiden Hernandez's RBI fielder's choice and Kato's RBI single added to the lead. The chokers struggled defensively, committing three costly errors that allowed Clark to capitalize and build a commanding lead.

On the mound, Zachary Hauser delivered a masterful performance for Clark, pitching a complete game shutout while allowing only two hits and striking out nine batters. His dominance on the mound kept Grays Harbor's offense in check throughout the game, stifling any potential rallies.

Despite their best efforts, the chokers couldn't muster much offense against Hauser, with only two hits on the day. T. Brandvold started on the mound for Grays Harbor but struggled, surrendering five runs (two earned) in three innings of work before C. Wheatley took over and provided solid relief.

Next up the penguins will look to travel to Aberdeen, Washington to complete the series after Saturday's games were postponed.

Clark improves their record to 15-11, 4-2 in conference play.
