VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark showed their prowess on the diamond as they defeated Walla Walla with a commanding 9-4 victory. The game, held on March 23, 2024, at Vancouver, WA, showcased Clark's solid hitting and pitching performances throughout the nine innings, despite the constant threat of rainshowers entering the area.
The game started with Clark taking an early lead in the first inning, scoring three runs fueled by solid hits from their lineup. Walla Walla fought back in the second inning, narrowing the gap with two runs, but Clark quickly responded with a flurry of runs in the bottom of the inning, extending their lead to 7-2.
Despite Walla Walla's efforts to rally back, Clark's defense held strong, limiting their opponents to just two more runs throughout the game. Pitcher Eddy Dwyer led the charge for Clark, showcasing impressive control and command on the mound for six innings, allowing only four runs.
Clark's offense was led by standout performances from Sophomore, Josh Schleichart and Freshman, Quentin Anguay, who both contributed significantly with their hits and RBIs. Schleichart's double and Anguay's timely hits were instrumental in securing the victory for Clark.
On the other side, Walla Walla fought hard, with notable contributions from players like Olson and Edgar, who each recorded multiple hits and RBIs. However, they struggled to overcome Clark's strong pitching and defense, ultimately falling short in their quest for victory.
As the final out was recorded in the ninth inning, Clark celebrated a well-deserved win, showcasing their dominance on both sides of the ball. With this victory, Clark improves their record to 10-9, while Walla Walla falls to 3-5 for the season.
Games two and three of the series will be played Sunday, March 24th at Kindsfather Field on the campus of Clark College. First pitch is set for 11:00am.
