VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College volleyball team faced a challenging opponent in Linn-Benton, who came into the match undefeated. Despite showing flashes of promise, the Penguins were swept 3-0 (15-25, 10-25, 20-25) last night.
Clark struggled to find consistency against the high-powered Linn-Benton squad, whose efficient attack and solid defense set the tone early. In the first set, Clark managed 8 kills but committed 7 errors, finishing with a .024 hitting percentage. Linn-Benton capitalized on Clark's miscues, taking the set 25-15.
The second set saw Clark's offensive struggles deepen, with only 5 kills and a -.100 hitting percentage, as Linn-Benton continued their dominance, taking the set 25-10.
However, the Penguins found a rhythm in the third set, fighting back with a stronger offensive showing. They recorded 12 kills with just 2 errors for a .270 hitting percentage, keeping the set close until Linn-Benton pulled away late for a 25-20 victory.
Clark was led by
Kylie Miller, who posted 8 kills and a .308 hitting percentage, while
Sydney George and
Ruby Ochoa contributed 5 kills each. Defensively,
Emelynn Cecil and
Sydney George had standout performances, with Cecil tallying 13 digs and George adding 14.
Despite the loss, the Penguins showed resilience and will look to build on their improved play in the third set as they prepare for the remainder of their conference schedule.
Clark's next match is set for later this week, and the Penguins will aim to bounce back and continue improving as the season progresses.
