VANCOUVER, Wash. - A walk-off error led Clark College past the chokers 6-5 on Sunday. The game was tied at five with Clark College Penguins batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run for the penguins.
Clark took an early lead in the first inning, when
Taydem Neal drew a walk, scoring one run.
The penguins knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Sy Steele drew a walk, scoring one run.
After Grays Harbor scored two runs in the top of the second, Clark answered with two of their own. The chokers scored when Hilyard singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Clark College then answered when
Caden Parker doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and
Canon Humphreys singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Ryan Keith pitched the penguins to victory. Keith lasted one inning, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one and walking one.
Johnson took the loss for the chokers. He allowed three hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one.
Cade Reitzenstein started the game for the penguins . The pitcher went six innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits and striking out four.
Winterhalder started the game for Grays Harbor. The pitcher went five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out five.
Clark tallied 12 hits. Humphreys,
Carter Monda, and Parker each had multiple hits for the penguins . Humphreys led Clark College Penguins with three hits in four at bats.
Grays Harbor scattered 12 hits in the game. McMurdo, Shioji, Hilyard, and Winterhalder each managed multiple hits for the chokers. McMurdo went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead them in hits.
