Volleyball falls to Southwestern Oregon in 5 sets, Friday, October 13th

VANCOUVER, Wash - The Clark Penguins hosted the Southwestern Oregon Lakers for a volleyball showdown that would go five sets, Friday evening.

The game was a rollercoaster of emotions with each set keeping the suspense alive. The penguins started strong, dominating the first set with a score of 25-16. Their precise plays and teamwork set the tone for an exciting match. But the lakers were not to be outdone, and in the second set, they came back with a vengeance, winning 25-22. It was clear that this was going to be a close contest.

The third set saw the Penguins regain their composure and control of the game, taking it with a convincing score of 25-17. However, the lakers were far from finished, responding with a dominant performance in the fourth set, which they won 25-17. The stage was set for an intense final showdown in the fifth set.

The lakers and Penguins battled fiercely in the fifth and final set, trading points and showcasing their impressive skills. It was an incredibly tight contest, with the lakers ultimately prevailing with a score of 15-13. The lakers' tenacity and determination in the final moments of the match paid off, securing their victory.

Corin Gutierrez-Orozco emerged as the star of the game, leading all players with an astounding 18 kills. Right behind her was TT Gaopoa with 11 kills, showing the penguin's impressive offensive prowess. Anna Poen was the serving sensation of the night, landing three aces for her team. On the defensive side, Ruby Ochoa contributed three blocks, and Caroline Babcock added two more, making it difficult for the opposing team to break through. Josie Becker was instrumental in setting up the penguin's plays, accumulating an impressive 55 assists. Corin Gutierrez-Orozco showcased her all-around skills by contributing 17 digs.

The match was a true test of skill, determination, and teamwork, with both teams playing their hearts out. The final statistics showed just how closely matched the teams were, with the lakers accumulating 54 kills compared to Clark's 50. It was a night of intense competition and a display of incredible volleyball talent on both sides.
