O Frasier

Owen Frasier

Owen Frasier was named the head cross country and track coach at Clark College in the spring of 2022 and immediately made a big splash in his first 18 months. In year one of cross country, the men’s and women’s teams each finished 2nd in the NWAC Southern Region and saw seven athletes named to the all region team.  Two weeks later at the NWAC Championships, the women finished 2nd place, which was the program’s highest finish since 2010, and the men placed 4th. For their success, Frasier was named NWAC Southern Region Men’s Coach of the Year.

In year one of track the Penguins once again saw major success as well. The women finished 3rd at the NWAC Championships and included 30 All Region honors, 27 All Conference athletes and 16 All Americans. Two athletes, Jasmine Bates (800) and Brianna Morrell (400) won NWAC individual Championships and every team member qualified for the Championship meet. For their performance, Frasier was named NWAC Women’s Coach of the Year. The men also saw 17 athletes recognized for All Region, 11 All Conference and 1 All American. The entire men’s roster also qualified for the NWAC Champhips.

In their second season of cross country this fall it was even more progress for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.  The women won their first Southern Region Championship since 2015 and the men finished third, with the program seeing 12 athletes earn spots on the All Region Team. At the NWAC Championships, the women repeated as Runner-Up and the men finished 5th, highlighted by four athletes earning All Conference and three athletes earning All American status. Freshman Sydnee Boothby became the first individual women’s NWAC cross country champion in Clark history that day, which capped off a season where she also won the Southern Region Championship and broke the school 4K, 5K, and 6K records. She went on to sign with Washington State University at the end of the season. In total, Frasier has already had six athletes sign to four year colleges.

Frasier joined Clark after spending the previous 12 years as the Head Cross Country Coach at Fort Vancouver High School. Under his leadership, Fort Vancouver's cross country program boasted 38 all league runners, 41 regional qualifiers, and 23 state qualifiers. The program also earned seven team regional qualifications, two league championships, one district championship and three state qualifications, capped off by a fourth place girl’s finish in his final season in 2021.

Originally hailing from Vancouver, Frasier graduated from Hudson's Bay High School where he competed in cross country, basketball, and baseball for the Eagles. He completed his AA at Clark College and earned a Bachelor of Science in History at Corban University in Salem, OR, where he competed in baseball for the Warriors. Frasier then graduated from Concordia University in Portland, OR with a Masters in Teaching. Since then, he has taught at King's Way Christian School and Fort Vancouver High School, where he currently teaches history and AVID. Frasier and his wife Stephanie reside in Vancouver with their 7 year old daughter Wrigley and 4 year old son Henry.
