Kailey Sears joined the Penguin cross country program after spending the previous five seasons as a cross country and track and field coach at Fort Vancouver High School.  During her time at Fort, Kailey was a big part of the ascension of both programs.  In the spring, Sears coached athletes to seven individual District Championships, two Regional Championships, and 10 State Qualifications in events ranging from the 400-3200 meters.  She previously coached both cross country and track and field in Gladstone, Oregon.

Since arriving at Clark, Sears has been a big part of the men’s and women’s team and individual success in distance.  In two seasons of cross country and one track season, Sears has already coached 35 All Region, 13 All Conference, 7 All American, and two Conference Champions in distance. Her athletes have secured three school records and eight All Time top ten performances. 

Sears grew up in Wisconsin but moved to Washington in high school and graduated from West Valley High School in Yakima, Washington where she competed in cross country and track and field.  Sears attended Seattle Pacific University and majored in Latin American Studies before later earning a Master’s Degree from George Fox University in Teaching.

An avid runner herself, Kailey runs all distances from 5k to 50 miles and has marathon PR of 3:28. She is active in several area running groups and you may have seen her volunteering at local races.

Kailey is currently the EL Specialist at Fort Vancouver High School and taught Spanish and English Learners at Fort and in Gladstone for over ten years. Kailey lives in Vancouver with her amazing husband Kyle and their dog, Rye!
