In one short season, Beth Hamrick Graves performed on the court like no other woman in the history of Clark College. Averaging 23 points per game, she still holds the NWAACC record during a tournament by averaging 29.3 points per game. She also led the NWAACC in free-throw percentage during the 1994-95 season by shooting an astonishing 86 percent. She helped the Penguins achieve a 12-2 league title, finishing first in the west and 21-7 overall.
Beth transferred to Clark College from the University of Idaho, where she had a full scholarship, because she missed her family. She returned to Vancouver and thrived at Clark, which was the right fit for her academically and athletically. Here she played for Coach Ken Trapp and with many players who had once been her opponents in high school. While playing for Prairie High School, she helped the Falcons win state championships in 1993 and 1994. She was also selected to the all-state team and named Most Valuable Player in 1993.
Following Clark, Beth played at Western Baptist (now Corban University) where the team won the 1997 National Christian College Championship. After graduating with a business management degree, she remained in the region. Today she’s an award-winning probation officer for the state of Washington. In 2008, she received the Washington State Probation of the Year accolade. She
also keeps her hands in the game as a Division 1 collegiate basketball referee.
